Today was a day of travel. We caught the 8.25 bus to Dublin. Had an early lunch there then caught the local bus to the airport. Our flight boarded on time but then we sat on the runway for a long time.
We arrived in Glasgow 30 minutes late. Caught a bus into the city then changed for the bus to our accommodation.
Our host Eleanor was really nice. We had a chat with her and then we walked to the supermarket to get dinner, breakfast and snacks. We had dinner and then it was time for bed.

24th May
We caught the train into the city centre. The first place we went to visit was the information centre. We'd decided we'd like to do a day tour of Scotland on the 25th May. All the staff there were very helpful and we booked a tour.
After that we explored the city.
Across from the Information Centre was St George's Tron.

As we walked along the river to Glasgow Green where the People's Palace was located we saw St Andrews Catherdal.
The People's Palace had a Winter Garden and a museum. The museum was really interesting. It explained about every day life in Glasgow.
We walked to the Necropolis. It's a graveyard but the views from the top are good and the graves are sometimes quite large.
We did a tour of St Mungo Church. The guide was very interesting. He spent at least an hour showing us around.
The Gallery of Modern Art wasn't to our taste. Perhaps it's just too modern?!
Next we did the tour of the City Chambers. The tour guide was quite funny. The building is really beautiful.
After much searching we found The Light House. The person at the Information Centre had recommended it for the views.
After that it was to the supermarket to buy veges to cook dinner for Eleanor and ourselves.
25 May
I was very excited because we were going on a tour. It was called "Tour of Oban, Glencoe & West Highland Castles"
First stop was Loch Lomond. We had about 20 minutes there. It was very beautiful. Actually it reminded me of Lake Taupo partly because of the pine trees nearby.
Then it was a 5 minute stop at Rest and be Thankful.

The next place on the itinerary was Inveraray Castle. We decided not to go in the castle and to go and see the town instead. We had an hour here.

After that we drove around Lock Fyne. It was a beautiful day and the lake was like a mirror.
We stopped at Kilchurn Castle for 5 minutes.
Then we went to Oban. We had an hour and a half there. We walked up to McCaig's Tower after having fish and chips for lunch.
The bus pulled over so we could see Castle Stalker but we couldn't get out here.
The last stop of the day was Glencoe. I think it was meant to be the highlight but it was an anticlimax for us. It looked like a lot of NZ!
Then we headed back to Glasgow with a surprise stop to see the deer and feed them digestive biscuits!
